As thy mighty King of Denmark, I hereby cannot believe’d in my eyes that Laertes, the deceased councilor’s son, has accused me of murder as soon as he had returned from his rebellion. He comes forth to me and simply says: “How came he dead? I’ll not be juggled with. To hell, allegiance! Vows to the blackest devil! Conscience and grace, to the profoundest pit! I dare damnation. To this point I stand, Let come what comes, only I’ll be revenged most thoroughly for my father’s death.”I thought Laertes’s words were clearly of blame to me of Polonius’s death.  Later after that, luckily I calmed him down by saying for him to stay loyal with his friends and family.

At first sight of Ophelia, I was quite surprised what has gotten to her head. Was this because of her father’s death? I believe so. I remembered that she handed fennels to columbines to me when she saw that I was evil inside because fennels and columbines are to cast away evil. I grew nervous right away, but Laertes did not notice it.  Overall I had not told Laertes that Hamlet has killed Polonius and is off in England.. I hope that this situation will not turn into a conflict.

Polonius knows that Hamlet killed Polonius but doesn't want Laertes to know yet, even if it means because accused himself. Infact, he stops Gertrude when she tries to defend him. This is so he can later confide in Laertes that Hamlet killed Polonius while the two of them were alone and take advantage of his reponse.
